IT Data Engineering Specialist

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Data Engineer profile to join our growing IT team, who will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3/5 years with an experience on data pipeline building, who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up.
The Data Engineer will support our project managers, data analysts on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of optimizing or even re-designing our company’s data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.

 Main responsibilities:

  • Build, maintain and optimize data pipelines for extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data from various sources.

  • Design and implement scalable data architectures, data models, and databases to support business analytics and reporting needs.

  • Integrate data from various internal and external sources and ensure the quality and consistency of data across different systems.

  • Implement data validation checks, data quality metrics, and maintain data governance practices to ensure data accuracy and security.

  • Work with large-scale data processing frameworks and other distributed systems to handle big data workloads.

  • Leverage cloud-based data solutions and infrastructure for data storage, processing, and analytics.

  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and ensure data infrastructure aligns with business objectives.

  • Identify and implement performance optimizations for data storage, retrieval, and processing.

  • Collaborate in priority definitions of each initiative, defining value, feasibility, and economic impacts.

  • Automate repetitive tasks related to data ingestion, processing, and monitoring

  • Ensure that data engineering practices comply with data privacy laws and organizational security policies.

  • Implement monitoring systems for data pipelines and quickly troubleshoot issues as they arise.

  • Participate in the testing stages from design, execution, integration and acceptance, providing adequate business process knowledge.

  • Design and deliver end-user training and training materials/sessions; provide technical support as necessary.  Troubleshoot systems and software; performance-tune these applications as necessary.

  • Collaborate with external vendors and service providers as needed to support IT initiatives and resolve issues.

  • Closely collaborate with the other IT teams to ensure that, while evolving and operating the solutions in scope, an end to end consistency is kept within the entire application and infrastructure landscape.  

  • Build and maintain excellent and productive working relationships with key business stakeholders, 3rd parties/external sourcing partners and all IT and business colleagues.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Mathematic or related field.

  • Minimum of 3/5 years of experience as IT data engineering, preferably in environments with production plants.

  • Experience with ETL tools, SQL, Python, or other programming languages used for data processing, and knowledge of data pipeline orchestration tools

  • Proficiency in data modeling, database design, and experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases (eg mySQL)

  • Experience with data integration tools and platforms, familiarity with APIs, and data warehousing solutions (e.g. BigQuery)

  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, data quality management practices, and experience with data validation tools

  • Experience with big data tools and platforms, proficiency in distributed computing concepts, and knowledge of cloud data services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), cloud-native data tools (e.g., AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory), and serverless computing

  • Fluent English, native Italian

  • "Hands on" style with clear commitment to understand/ investigate/ analyze/ address/ challenge/ improve current status/ problems.

  • Mobility for business traveling (typically Trieste or Milano).
