There is a question companies often ask themselves too late: “Where do we find the executive we need?”
Perhaps the better question is: “Why didn’t we know them before we needed them?”
When a critical position becomes vacant, many companies start a race against the clock.
They publish the position.
They receive CVs.
They interview candidates.
They compare profiles.
They try to convince the best ones.
And then they discover something uncomfortable: the best candidates probably never applied. Because the executives who can transform a business are not necessarily looking for a new job.
And the more senior the position, the more true this becomes.
The market is not full of candidates. It is full of people who are not available — yet. That is the real challenge of Executive Search. It is not about finding someone who wants to change companies. It is about identifying someone who could change the future of your company.
And that requires something no algorithm can completely replace: knowing the market, understanding businesses, speaking with leaders and building relationships long before a position exists.
The mistake is starting too late.
A company that starts thinking about its next CFO when it already needs a CFO is reacting. A company that starts understanding the CFO market before it needs one is preparing.
The difference may seem small. It isn’t. Because when urgency arrives, the company that has built relationships has options. The other one has an open position.
Executive Search should not be a transaction. It should be an ongoing conversation about leadership.
Who is transforming an industry? Who is ready to lead a more complex operation?
Who could thrive in our culture? Who has the experience we will need three years from now?
Who is not looking today, but should be on our radar?
These are the conversations that matter to us at Consea.
That is why we are investing more and more time in building relationships with CEOs, entrepreneurs and business leaders across Brazil and Latin America. Not because they have an open position today. But because they will probably face leadership decisions tomorrow. And when that moment comes, we wantConsea to be one of the first calls they make.
The best executive search does not start with a Job Description. It starts much earlier.

Empieza mucho antes.
